Cookie Policy

1. About this Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Mr. Milan Jethva, an individual carrying on business as a sole proprietorship under the trade name "eCOMeX" (also styled "eCOMeX AI") (referred to as "eCOMeX", "we", "us" or "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies on the eCOMeX web application available at https://ecomex.app (the "Platform" or "Service").

It should be read together with our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service, which describe more fully how we handle your personal data, the lawful bases on which we rely, your rights as a data principal under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and how we deal with Amazon Information. By continuing to use the Platform, you acknowledge our use of cookies as described in this policy. The basis on which each category of cookie is used is explained in the "Consent and your choices" section below.

2. What cookies are

A "cookie" is a small text file that a website places on your computer, phone or other device when you visit it. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, or to work more efficiently, and to remember information about your visit. When you return to the site, the information stored in the cookie can be read back, which allows the site to recognise your device and remember your preferences.

Cookies set by the website you are visiting (in this case, eCOMeX) are called "first-party" cookies. Cookies set by a domain other than the one you are visiting are called "third-party" cookies. eCOMeX uses only first-party cookies. Cookies may be "session" cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or "persistent" cookies, which remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them.

Related technologies, such as the browser's local storage, can also be used to store small amounts of information on your device for similar purposes. Some of the preference items described below are in fact stored in your browser's local storage rather than as a traditional cookie. Where we refer to "cookies" in this policy, we mean cookies together with these closely related technologies.

3. The cookies eCOMeX uses

eCOMeX uses a deliberately small set of first-party cookies and related browser-storage items. We group them into two categories: strictly necessary cookies and preference items. We do not use any other categories of cookie.

3.1 Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential for the Platform to function and to keep your account secure. They cannot be switched off through our systems, and the Service cannot be provided without them. They do not store any advertising or cross-site tracking information.

Name Type Duration Purpose
sessionid First-party cookie (login/session) Session / until logout or expiry Keeps you logged in to your account and maintains your session as you move between pages. Without this cookie you cannot sign in or remain signed in.
csrftoken First-party cookie (security) Persistent (set period or until deleted) Provides protection against Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks by verifying that requests submitted to the Platform genuinely come from you. This safeguards your account when you submit forms and perform actions.

3.2 Preference items

These items remember the choices you make so that your experience of the Platform is more convenient. They are not essential to the operation of the Service, and the Platform will still work if they are blocked or cleared, but your display preferences will not be remembered between visits. On most devices these preferences are stored in your browser's local storage.

Name Type Duration Purpose
darkMode First-party (preference / local storage) Persistent (until you clear it) Remembers whether you have chosen the light or dark theme, so the Platform displays in your preferred appearance.
sidebarCollapsed First-party (preference / local storage) Persistent (until you clear it) Remembers whether you have collapsed or expanded the navigation sidebar, so the layout matches your last choice.

4. No advertising, analytics or cross-site tracking cookies

eCOMeX does not use any third-party advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not place cookies that build advertising profiles, track you across other websites, or share your browsing behaviour with advertising networks. The only cookies and storage items we use are the first-party items listed above, which are limited to keeping you logged in, protecting the security of your account, and remembering your display preferences.

For abuse-prevention on our public, signed-out front-door chat, we store only a secret-salted, irreversible hash of a visitor's IP address; we do not store the raw IP address for that purpose, and this is not done through any advertising or tracking cookie. This is explained further in our Privacy Policy.

5. Google Fonts

To display text in a consistent typeface, some pages of the Platform load fonts hosted by Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser makes a network request to Google's servers to retrieve the font files, and as part of that request Google may receive technical information such as your IP address. This is a network request to a third party and is not a cookie set by eCOMeX; eCOMeX does not set any advertising or tracking cookies through this. As Google operates servers outside India, this may involve a transfer of that technical information outside India; such transfers are permitted under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, subject to any restrictions notified by the Government of India. The way Google processes such requests is governed by Google's own privacy practices. We use Google Fonts only to render the visual appearance of the Platform.

6. Payment-related cookies

eCOMeX does not currently process live payments and does not store card data. When paid billing goes live, payments will be handled by a third-party, PCI-DSS-compliant payment processor, which may set its own cookies on its own checkout pages to enable and secure the transaction. Any such cookies will be governed by that processor's own cookie and privacy notices. We will update this Cookie Policy before such payment cookies are introduced.

7. How to control or delete cookies

Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can usually set your browser to block or delete cookies, to warn you before a cookie is stored, or to remove cookies that have already been stored, and to clear local storage. The exact steps differ from browser to browser; please refer to the "Help", "Settings" or "Preferences" section of your browser for instructions. Information about managing cookies is also available from your browser provider's support pages.

Because the preference items (darkMode and sidebarCollapsed) are not essential, blocking, deleting or clearing them will not prevent you from using the Platform; you will simply need to set your display preferences again on each visit.

Important: the strictly necessary cookies (sessionid and csrftoken) are required for the Platform to operate. If you block or delete these cookies, you will not be able to log in, stay logged in, or securely submit forms, and the Service will not function. If you do not wish to allow these cookies, you should not use the Platform.

8. Consent and your choices

The strictly necessary cookies are used on the basis that they are essential to provide the Service you have requested and to keep your account secure; without them the Platform cannot be delivered. The preference items are used to enhance your experience and operate on the basis of your continued use of the Platform and the choices you make within it.

Where the law requires your consent for any non-essential item, you provide it by choosing to use the relevant feature and by continuing to use the Platform. You may withdraw your acceptance of non-essential cookies and storage items at any time by deleting them and adjusting your browser settings to block them, as described above. Withdrawing consent or blocking these items will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you did so, and may affect the convenience of certain non-essential features.

As a data principal, you have rights under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, including the right to access a summary of your personal data and its processing, to seek correction, completion, updating or erasure, to grievance redressal, to nominate another individual, and to withdraw consent. These rights, the lawful bases on which we rely (your consent and/or legitimate uses such as the performance of our contract with you), and how to exercise them are set out in full in our Privacy Policy. You may exercise your rights or raise any cookie-related concern by writing to us at privacy@ecomex.app or to our Grievance Officer at grievance@ecomex.app. If your grievance is not resolved to your satisfaction, you have the right to register a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India.

The Platform is not directed to persons under the age of 18, and eCOMeX does not knowingly process the personal data of children.

9. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies and storage items we use, in technology, or in applicable law. When we make material changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date shown on this page and, where appropriate, bring the changes to your attention through the Platform. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Platform after any update constitutes your acknowledgement of the revised policy.
